Just Stuff:
Sorry I missed posting yesterday. The day just kind of slipped by, I was distracted and I went to bed early, so it just kind of slipped my mind.
A belated in-blog Birthday shout out to one of my favorite bloggers, Spo Reflections. He definitely proves that some things (and men) get better with age and I wish him a year of fantastic! Keep making my brain and other man parts tingle, Spo!
The news of Provincetown's Sewage problem has me really bummed and agitated. Others seem totally fine with it and are ready to embrace Ptown and Bear Week as is, regardless of any potential sewage issues. I don't know why I'm having a hard time taking the same attitude. I am really worried about the health risks and comfort of being in a town that just had a major sewage problem. What if it's not all fixed and cleaned up? What if the influx of Bears taxes the sewage system before it's completely repaired and at full strength and there's another problem? What if I have to see or smell things I do NOT want to see and smell on my vacation? Am I over-reacting? I mean, is it crazy that this, the latest update from the Town manager, doesn't instill me with optimism that the town is up and running and 100% back to normal?
Town Manager's Sewer Update
9:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009
The following sections of the sewer system in town are now fully operational:
Commercial Street East main from Lopes Square to the 600 block of Commercial Street
Bradford Street West main from Standish Street to Prince StreetCommercial Street West main from Lopes Square to Franklin Street (Coast Guard station)
Currently, crews are working on Commercial Street from the Coast Guard station west and plan to complete the remaining portions of the west end today.
Notifications are being distributed to those property owners where it is safe to operate water related equipment in a normal condition.
Please remember that it is the property owner's responsibility to notify their individual insurance companies to report a claim whether it is covered or not. All property owners who have sustained damage to their personal property should save all receipts for repair and replacement.
I am also still under the weather and seem to have had a downturn in my health today. I am a little woozy, chilled and my congestion has increased. I am heading out to see the doctor in a few minutes for a once over to see if I should be concerned or if this is just a nasty lingering cold.
Regardless of all the negative thoughts in my head this post reveals, I am still excited beyond description that tomorrow night when I will be picking up Lewis and Blair (Spirit of Saint Lewis and Blair's Corner)
And, I've managed to keep going to the gym and am down 1 pound. So there is some good mixed in with the bad.
I just wish I felt better about everything else right now.

Raw sewage is yucky, but if you can avoid touching or stepping in it, it should be no problem. I came back to New Orleans after Katrina and did not get sick, and I'm sure you know what nasty conditions we had down here for a while.
I think if you can avoid breathing through your nose, you'll be fine. With all the fun you'll experience, you may forget about the smell.
But hey, it's your vacation, go somewhere else instead if it makes you feel more confortable. The world is yours to do what you want.
Have fun.
Take good care of yourself today....rest, rest, rest......vitamins, eat well..... I'm doing the same thing.....
SEE YOU TOMORROW NIGHT!!!
Hope you get feeling better and have a great vacation!
Hope you are feeling better soon and that the four of you have a great time, despite sewage!
If you are really afraid of P'town, but want to hit the Atlantic coast, consider Ogunquit, ME. It's quite lovely, the outlet stores in Kitterey and Freeport are easily accessible if there's a rainy day, there are a lot of great and great-looking men and it's as strongly New England as P'town if not as wonderfully raucous and over the top.
thank you for the mention, and the card.
I hope you are feeling better.
My ancestors came to Ptown in 1620 or so; if you go to town and see the memorial plaque I could point out my ancestor.
I know its difficult, but you'll feel better if you can just 'let go' of things over which you have zero control, like the sewage issues in P'town. Don't ruin the trip before you get there!
Have a blast!!
